Kofu Jewelry x TGC Project

The Tokyo Girls Collection Executive Committee (planning/production: W TOKYO Co., Ltd.) launched the “Kofu Jewelry x TGC Project” in collaboration with Kofu City to promote “Kofu, the city of jewels” to the world, and this year marks the fourth year. This time, it has been decided that MINAMI, a charismatic teen who lives in Yamanashi Prefecture and has over 5 million followers on social media, will be the new “Kofu Jewelry Ambassador” for the second consecutive year. To mark her appointment, a letter of appointment ceremony was held at Kofu City Hall on Monday, June 23rd.

Kofu City began with the production of quartz crystals in the area around Ontake Shosenkyo, a famous tourist destination. Since the technology of quartz crystal processing was introduced in the mid-Edo period, the city has inherited its high level of technology to the present day, and is a rare cluster of jewelry-related industries, including art sculptures using materials such as quartz, polishing of raw stones, precious metal processing, and companies that handle domestic and international distribution. In recent years, the city has also taken on the challenge of environmentally friendly “sustainable jewelry,” such as metal processing using hydrogen burners and decorations made from recycled gemstone scraps, and is moving forward as a “city of jewelry” that continues to develop together with jewelry. The “Kofu Jewelry x TGC Project” is a project to promote Kofu jewelry to the world, which was launched with the stage of Tokyo Girls Collection in 2022. MINAMI wore Kofu jewelry and walked the runway at the “Jewelry Town Kofu Stage” at “Mynavi TGC 2024 A/W” held in September 2024 and “Mynavi TGC Osaka-Kansai Expo” held in April 2025, to maximize the appeal of Kofu jewelry.
Today, the commissioning ceremony held at Kofu City Hall was attended by Kofu Mayor Higuchi Yuichi, Kofu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Shindo Nakaba, and Yamanashi Jewelry Association Chairman Yanagimoto Chikara. Regarding future activities, Mayor Higuchi commented, “We are planning to hold the national competition for the jewelry design contest “Kofu Jewelry Koshien,” which was held for the first time last year. Through this event, we hope to develop the imagination and talent of high school students while raising interest in the jewelry industry, which is our city’s representative industry, and to increase awareness of “Kofu Jewelry Town,” develop the next generation of leaders, and expand hometown tax donations. We would like to ask MINAMI to support us at other events this year as well, in addition to promoting Kofu Jewelry at the Tokyo Girls Collection.” Naka Shindo expressed his expectations for Kofu Jewelry, saying, “There are many reasons why people feel excited about wearing jewelry, but I think it is important not only to dress yourself up, but also to talk about life. As a representative of young people, I would like MINAMI to do her best to make many people aware of the excitement of wearing Kofu Jewelry and its fashionability.”
