Gimel　New Collection

Wako Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kiyoko Niwasaki) is pleased to announce the “Gimel Exhibition: A Riot of Blossoms” (Hyakka Ryoran). This exhibition will be held from Thursday, August 27, to Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Seiko House Hall—located on the 6th floor of Seiko House—which is reopening as a new hub for cultural dissemination.

Gimel maintains its atelier amidst the lush nature of the slopes of Mount Rokko. There, the brand creates captivating, beautiful jewelry by combining uncompromisingly exquisite materials with superb craftsmanship.
Wako has carried Gimel’s collections at its flagship store since 2013, where they have been cherished by many customers.
Centered on the theme of “A Riot of Blossoms,” this exhibition brings together approximately 400 pieces of colorful jewelry inspired by the flowers of the four seasons. A highlight of the collection is the magnificent, large-bloomed “Peony Brooch”—making its debut here—which showcases Gimel’s exceptional artistry through the use of mother-of-pearl in its petals.
The venue, Seiko House Hall, is reopening on Thursday, August 27, and this exhibition serves as the inaugural event to mark the occasion.

Kaoru Akihara, the brand’s founder and art director, moved to the United States in 1972 to study gemstone identification and jewelry design at the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) before launching a diamond import company in 1974. Ten years later, she began creating her own jewelry. After exhibiting at Baselworld—one of the world’s largest trade shows for new jewelry and watches—Gimel’s creations, which fuse Western jewelry techniques with Japanese aesthetics, gained global recognition. The renowned auction house Sotheby’s has named Gimel one of the “innovative and influential jewelers of the 21st century,” praising the brand for creating “jewelry that will endure for a century.”
Gimel is acclaimed for its exquisite pavé settings and beautiful color gradations, as well as playful, meticulously crafted designs that are beautiful not only on the surface but also on the reverse side. Each piece is carefully created from start to finish by a single artisan, resulting in works that can be described as both fine art and exquisite craftsmanship.
